Freelance is a synonym for freedom. Nobody tells you what to do and when to do it. But is it all as great as it sounds?

In reality, great freedom coincides with great responsibility. If nobody cares about organizing your work, only one person will have the duty to do it: you.  You will need to be able to juggle the minefields of productivity and goal achievement to complete everything your job requires at the end of the day. Otherwise, you will get overwhelmed by the stress that always has a disastrous effect on your private life.

We have thought of offering you some tips/tricks that will help you structure your day always to be productive.

Plan your day when you work from home

As a freelancer, you can work when you like, but this is not always advantageous. The fact that you can work when you want does not mean that you are mentally ready at all times to do it. Another negative aspect is that you are assumed to be constantly available, which could prevent you from really “disconnecting” from work commitments.

  • Establish “office hours” that are agreeable to you.  Knowing yourself, your rhythms, and what works best for you is essential. Choose the hours of the day when you know you’re most productive: whether it’s early morning or late evening, you decide. As long as you can keep in touch with your customers, most of your work can be done during your preferred hours.
  • Set a goal to achieve every single day.  Plan your day in detail and decide which specific task to perform at a given time. Keep work and private life separate.

Years ago, when people traditionally only worked in the office, it was much easier to establish boundaries between work and private life. We arrived at the office and worked until it was time to return home physically: the spaces were well defined, so one did not invade the other and vice versa.   • Do something to enter the “working mode symbolically.”  Take off your pajamas, shower, prepare the coffee and pour it into that “special” cup that you only use while you work. Even if there is no one in your house and therefore, it may seem irrelevant what you wear, in reality, it is a small trick that helps you to enter the rhythm of work in an unconscious way mentally.
  • Avoid household chores.  Another great temptation when working from home is to take care of the housework. Sure, vacuuming or doing a washing machine can be considered an actual “job,” but that’s not what bread gives you. Avoid this type of activity and focus entirely on what’s important during your schedule.

Distractions are a curse …

Bling! The sound of the notification notifies you of the umpteenth email received in your inbox. Dryer, Dryer, the phone vibrates due to a message or a call. And that song now playing on the radio is just irresistible, right? It’s been so long since you last heard it!
